Learning the command line10 Apr 2013
I've just finished Zed Shaw's The Command Line Crash Course. It's a really quick, really simple and amusingly sarcastic guide to getting your head round the basics of the scary black window with plain text that controls your computer.
The teaching style is basically drill, drill, drill. Type this 20 times. Say it out loud. Write this down. Repetitive? Yes. But it worked.
I started knowing basically nothing about the command line, but in a couple of evenings I got to the point where it now basically makes sense.
I know the course only covers the very basics, but it's definitely a good place to start.
